Our City Cares’ 3.5″x 2″ first responder business cards have messages of hope with the 988 suicide prevention hotline on the front. The text is printed in bold letters along with the colors for suicide prevention. On the back are the. messages, “You are Not Alone” “Never Give Up” “Dwell on the Beauty of Life” “There is always hope” “Life has seasons and seasons change” “Your story is still being written.”

Distributed around the community, first responder cards bring messages of hope and make sharing the national suicide prevention hotline easy. Our messages are powerful for three reasons: 

-They are universal truths we can all unite around 

-They expose the lies people in turmoil can believe. 

-They bring a positive message that can interrupt a negative cycle of thought that someone may be stuck in. 

As of July 16, 2022, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline can be accessed by dialing 988. The current National Suicide Prevention Lifeline will still remain available by calling 1-800-273-8255, but experts say the new 988 three-digit code will be easier to remember during mental health emergencies.
